I raised the level and a few things did go into the folder. We changed domain registrars and optimum on line is the new one and THEY have many filters installed (per their advertisement) perhaps that is the reason for fewer items in the folder, it just seemed to stop originally but as you said it was low and maybe with the new system...anyway thanks for all of your input.

A low setting would allow most mail to bypass the junk mail folder and just be delivered to your inbox, set it to high if you want more action there.

As far as I know the red circle icon is the default for the junk mail folder, during installation it may temporarily use a standard icon and the revert to the correct one afterwards, I do not think it has any bearing on this issue.

If you are on a network with an Exchange server the administrator sets the level for what gets sent to the junk mail folder.

Do you have any other spam software on this system that may be acting on it prior to delivery to Outlook?

Sorry about my assumption, but since you directed me to the other page I thought it had to be you!!

I have already tried every setting in the junk e-mail settings. I have it set to low and it worked till last week and then all of a sudden the folder had the red circle. I just installed outlook on another computer in the network and the folder was fine until I closed and reopened Outlook. Does it have something to do with the network? I can find absolutly nothing about this in the internet...well except several people have asked the question. I know when all else fails I usually get the correct answer here.

I work with too many Josh’s; this is another Josh, who is my friend but thanks anyway . You many want to check your email settings

To change junk e-mail settings in Outlook 2003:
1. On the Tools menu, select Options.
2. In the Options dialog box, in the E-mail section, click Junk E-mail.
3. Choose the level of junk e-mail message protection you want.
4. Click OK.
Are these email, being sent from a specific sender, or just random emails?

I am not sure if it is going into deleted or just not going anywhere. But I always check the junk mail because sometimes there is stuff there that I requested but didn't add to my address book

I installed Outlook 2003 from our Office disk and it worked great for about a month. Now I have noticed there is a red circle on the folder (although everywhere I look on the net it says it is supposed to be that way) and the junk mail no longer goes there. I have checked every possible setting but cannot change it back. Does anyone know anything about this feature? Thanks in advance.
