I think the eraser is not for Office XP but should do what you want since you are working on Office 2000 on Windows XP.

You do have the Office 2000 disc, you want to delete 2000 and upgrade to 2003, but when you try to upgrade to 2003 you get the same error as you did for 2000? What is the complete error message?

Running XP Pro, Office 2K, new build copy hard drive, etc, Office 2000 starts with errors, go to correct, need DATA1.msi, old disk won't give it up, so time to upgrade anyway, try to delete 2000, no go same answer need DATA1.msi, try to let 2003 Office do it for me, it installs but does not delete 2000 for me, I have tried control panal add/remove, same answer need DATA1.msi, tried finding on the net, I can't fool it that way, now on certain applications my office 2003 is trying access it to and other than doing a complete wipe of the hard drive and a reinstall I am at a loss! Any ideas? I went to MS they have a 2000 eraser but it is supposed to not work for XP, so I am hesitant to try that!
