Yes it is a valid location and not password protected because if i just hit save and leave the default name it gives it it will save to any location, but as soon as i change the file name it wont save to any network location, and Win98 doesnt have much in the way of security, but i was reading other things on the internet and some guy suggested that i remove the Hotfix 885250 i beleive it was and that fixed the problem, so thanks for your help

So whenever you change the name of the file, you cannot save? Are you sure, you are not trying to save in a location that does not exist? Have you tried to make a subfolder within my documents and then save your document within that subfolder within My documents?

I am having a Problem saving office documents. It is a Peer to Peer network, one PC is a Win98 File Server. it has a Mapped drive Called public and no passwords were entered when sharing this folder. I then Created a mapped drive called the P:\ drive and so when right click on the my documents folder i changed the path to the P:\ drive so it goes to the file server.
So when i open say word 2000 and type a few letters then go to file and save, it comes up to the P:\ drive and if i leave the default save name it works, but when i change it to a more descriptive name or just change it to my initials or whatever i get a message saying "the folder P:\test.doc isn't accessible. The Folder may be located on an unavailable volume or protected with a password". either one of those isnt true. i dont need any passwords and when i goto open a document i can get into the folder no problem. so since the PC was kinda slow, i bought a new PC and installed WinXP corporate and Office 2000 and it still is doing it, i also disabled the office plugin in NAV and removed the shares and recreated them . i also created a new folder and shared it and still same thing happens. I can save to the local drive but not accross the network, there are no Service packs installed for office. I also tried to login as a new user and still wont work, 3 other PC's on the network work fine and use the same software and method.
Please Help
