Also some programs that are in beta, are in that phase because of the possible problems, but mostly because of the new features that the company would like to include. For instance have you used Windows Antispyware, now called Windows Defender? If so that program is still in Beta, I have not heard of any major problems with that version thou it is in Beta Microsoft is trying to get people to download it use see how they like it, how they don’t like it what they would like to add. When they have enough information they release the final version. Again a Beta does not show its final functionality and should be used with caution. ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. Yes, I use beta program but not on a critical system. So I beta test Vista but I use it on another machine not my main one, if that program messes any data up or crashes then no loss, but if it were on my main machine then I could loose data. Same goes for you, just wait for the final program to come out. ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. So then its probably safe to say that when a program says it has a Beta version available for download I should probably avoid it being that I'm just a general public user? IP: Logged |

Beta is a program that has not been released to the public, but it being tested by beta testers. The reason it is not released is because all the bugs are not out of the product. For instance Windows Vista is in the beta stage, it being tested by testers, the testers will test the product by trying to find out all the bugs, and this happens in the Microsoft lab to. Also when it is in the beta testing stage, people try and figure out how to make it run better and faster. So after the entire beta testing is done, and when the product managers, and corporate executives feel that enough testing has been done, the product is out of the beta stage and can now be used in a working environment, and sold to the public. ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution.
