I had a similar problem. I started getting pop-ups that were not from the website I was visiting. I noticed lexplore.exe at that time, and could not get rid of it.

I also found a file uewvzx.exe (or something like that) in my system's file. I found this because it was created the same time I started getting the pop-ups. So look for an exe file in your systems folder with a recent create date.

This file was difficult to delete, and the spyware programs didn't seem to find it. When I tried to delete it manually, I couldn't because windows was using it.

But, HiJack This listed the registry key for this file. So I could delete the registry key. Then when my computer was restarted, uewvzx wasn't running, so I could delete it. I think I also had to delete the registry key again.

I know, I haven't mentioned lexplore. I don't know if I tried to delete it -- to my memory, I never found it. But it disappeared when I did the above. Maybe something else I did caused it to disappear, but I am pretty sure it was the above.

You might want to run the virus scan in safe mode with networking support. When your computer boots up, press the F8 key until you get to a boot menu, from that meun, choose safe mode with networking support, then once in safe mode get online and run the scan. Or if that does not work, you may have to try to end the L Explorer task, try safe mode first.

I tried the Housecall virus scan but my computer came up with 'Explorer has caused an error in Hardware.txt.' I have both adaware and Spybot and have been running them each day but lexplore keeps coming up.

I have had an entry called lexplore in my task manager for quite some time. I have found out that it is some sort of virus. I have been given corrective measures to clear it from my system but nothing has worked. I tried clearing it from my registry but I could not find it in the location I was given. I also tried uninstalling the accessories toolbar but when this was done lexplore still appeared in my task manager. This problem is worrying me as from the sources I have read lexplore can cause serious damage to your computer and I have had bad problems with my computer recently. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer me.

Cheers
Mark
