Jason, is that the only foldr on that drive or is there others, and do you have Windows Me on that drive? Depending on the reply you give me, you may have a virus, or the hard drive may be going out, or the master boot record may be messed up. Not to worry, we should be able to help you. So lets try this, when you first boot up, wait for about 3 seconds, then press the f8 key until a meun comes up, once its up, try to go to safe mode, if you cannot go to safe mode reboot the pc and then do the same things, and try to command prompt only. If you can get to a C:\ then type dir and press enter. Then you should see a bunch of stuff come on your screen that that is good. If not let us know what happens. Did you install anything before thos started to ha[[en?

Hi please can you help?
I have a pc running WIN ME, it was fine untill a couple of days ago then things started to go wrong, when i start the pc I get the message "boot failure insert boot disk". I have done this, then when the startup menu apears I selected option 2 (start pc without CDROM support).
Then I get a message saying "Windows ME has detected that drive C does not contain a valid FAT or FAT32 partition" It says there are several possible causes.
1) The drive may need to be partitioned. to create a partition on th drive, run FDISK from the MS-DOS command prompt.
2) you may be using third party disk partitioning software. if you are using this type of software, remove the emergency boot disk and restart you pc. then follow the on screen instructions to start you pc from a floppy disk.
3) some viruses also cause your drive C to not register. you can use a virus scanning program to check you pc for viruses.

I have one folder on the hard drive that I really want to save as they are digital photos of when my son was born (and like an idiot I never backed them up). Im not worried about losing anything else on the drive. I just want this folder. Please can anyone tell me how I can save it. If I can just get into windows I thought I could put another hard drive in and copy them to it.

sorry this post is a bit long winded. but i dont really know what sort of info you need.

Please HEELLLPP
Jason.
