BDWJNR.exe I came across this 'file' just recently when I installed and ran my new virus software. The virus software identified BDWJNR.exe as a virus or part thereof and removed it. That was fine until I tried to run an application resulting in an error message saying bdwjnr.exe could not be found. When I checked the file type 'Application', it was linked to open with bdwjnr.exe!
No '.exe' (or '.com') file would open once windows was running. However after some stuffing around I loaded regedit.exe program in "Schedule Tasks" manager to start at windows startup/logon, and it worked on reboot, and allowed me to remove the bdwjnr from the registry key as per your linked instructions below. I ran a regclean program which removed the bdwjnr from other regkeys.

Thought this might help someone in the same boat.

Have a look at this. http://www.pccomputernotes.com/newsletter/093000e.htm
Can you even boot into Windows? If so then maybe if you try the system restore that may help. I suppose you are referring to the registry when you said "system settings"? Here is something on System Restore. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsME/using/computerhealth/articles/systemrestore.asp

Thanks guys, yes windows will boot, and no their are no viruses. I reckon its got to do with the file association properties, but i'm not sure what to do. i've tried the 'folder options' > 'files' option, but i can't think of what to do next, thanks for your help, keep trying!
