I have been having a similar problem to the guy in this post (http://www.footslog.com/board/Forum13/HTML/000187.html). My .exe files are mysteriously disappearing, not just from my Desktop, but from my start menu, Program Files folder, and everywhere else (I believe). The programs aren't GONE because, for example, I can open Windows Media Player if I open an mp3 or dvd or something like that, but I cannot open it with any icon, shortcut, or anythhing else. I even backed up my important files and did a system restore, but it happened again after a day, so I restored AGAIN.
*sigh* And after 2 or so more days, it is happening again.
More of what's going on (and by the way, I am running Windows XP Media Center Edition):
Suddenly, I start losing executable files (EXE files), and Microsoft Paint, Caculator, the Sound Device program that runs in the task manager bar, are usually the first ones to go. I now don't have Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, and I'm sure other programs I haven't realized are gone yet.

WHAT'S GOING ON?!? Please help if you can.

Also, if anyone would like to, please email me personally at eblackwo (at) gmail (dot) com!
