Do you have a router? If so plug the DSL right into the PC without the router.

I use firefox, but I already checked it to automaticall detect the internet stuff. I used goback, and set it back a day, and now it's not going out as often, but it still goes out every two hours or so. [it's DSL so it shouldn't] also, for some reason my sound isn't working. Nothing it on mute & everything is plugged in :/. Computers hate me, I swear.

That the network connection is set to automatically detect the settings, if you right click the Internet Explorer icon go to properties then go to connections, then click on your connection and then make sure the automatically detect the settings, and see if that works.

I'm about ready to give up on my computer. I have NO idea wth is wrong with it. The internet randomly goes out and msn tells me the default gateway is not connected.
1. What is a defult gateway?
2. It also gives me this message: you might not be able to access the Internet or some network resources. This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer.
3. How do I assign a network address..?

I've done the ipconfig/release ipconfig/renew and it does not work. It only worked once. I have scanned for viruses, and I have none. Only cookies. PLEASE help. I'm very desperate. Today it has gotten really really bad. Like every 20 minutes it goes down, and I have to restart to get it to work again.
