You are welcome, so what that sticker means is that, that number is licensed to be used fore only that machine. It is almost as if that number is giving you the right to use that authorization number to install windows for that machine. So you could not use that number for another machine, because it’s only good for your machine, and this is true for the lifetime of that machine. So if you have the XP Home CD then you can use it but you must use the key that is on your laptop. Or the XP that is on your laptop, your Desktop machine should also have a sticker then you must use that sticker. Does this make sense? ------------------ IP: Logged |

thanks josh,there is a sticker on the base of the lap top. i am assuming that the windows is stored on a partition on it. is it possible to transfer the xp on my laptop,to my home computer? rodders IP: Logged |

hi all,i have purchased a second hand lap top. it has genuine xp home installed to partitioned hard drive. i would like to upgrade my pc to use the same programme, but there is no disc supplied. can this be achieved, or do i need another disc? any help appreciated. rodders IP: Logged |
