My computer was left unused for 9 months but plugged in most of the time. When I went to use it the power supply was fryed so I replaced it. I do not know why. When I replaced it the PC worked immediately.

However, I have now connected it to my 2wire router dsl modem and it won't connect to the internet. I've tried a laptop at the same cable and its fine. Furthermore, it will not receive packets even though it shows its connected. In addition it will not renew the IP address.

So far, I've tried:
1.uninstalling onboard nic and then rebooting
2.installing a separate nic card. I just tried this and the same exact problem with new nic card. It won't receive packets and the computer's ip won't renew.

Help!
