Could be, do you have the Windows XP cd by itself? Has the formatting process completed yet?

I reformatted my hard drive on my desktop using the system disk that hp sent me. Now it is on the 2nd day and still says 16 hours left? Has never taken more then 6 hours before. Is my hard drive shot?
