Thanks for that. I had deleted AOL - probably by Advanced Uninstaller. After some thought I tried the old favourite run/msconfig, and deleted all AOL items from the Startup Box. All appears OK - at the moment anyway!

If you get that error message, and you have uninstalled the software then that would mean some sort of AOL software is still on your computer. Now because you uninstalled the software it gives you the error because the file it is looking for is not there because of the uninstall. Do you have AIM or use AOL companion? Do you have the AOL software, if not then you could request it, once you get it install the AOL software, then go to safe mode, and then uninstall the AOL software and all AOL related software an this should get rid of the problem.

At start up I get the following :-
Please reinstall aol. aol keyword : Companion help. An error occured in loading AOL companion.XML file.
Needless to say I do not use aol and have deleted it - it came installed on the PC but I use another ISP.
