Well, it wouldn't let him into BIOS or whatever..but he fixed it! He just like opened it up, took the cord things that connect the hardrive and the "mother board" thingy apart, took the hardrive out and then redid them, and now it works. Thanks

Well from the info I havge now, a reinstall would not help only hurt. A reinststall may be needed but not yet.Souns like the BIOS cannot find the hard drive to boot off from. Do you know how to get into the BIOS? If so then you need to make sure that the hard drive is set to boot first. If you have any problems then let us know

OK I was on our other computer [windows xp] and all of a sudden it made a funny high pitched sort of sound and then froze up. I thought it was no big deal but when I restarted it came up with a message [in a black screen] that said "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device". I have NO idea what that means and I have a ton of stuff on there that I want/need. Is there anything I can do? My brother [who isn't amazing at computers like you, but knows more that me] said we probably have to re-install EVERYTHING. I'm freaking out because I need those things...Can you help?

EDIT: My friend suggested putting in the CD that you get when you first install things. I put it in and it said no hard disk found, system recovery cannot continue. What happened?
