You do have a cd burner we have already looked in my computer and there are no exclamations marks, and you said you could burn before. Go here for instructions using Roxio http://www.health.state.ri.us/healthcorner/policies/ois/roxio.p df#search='how%20to%20burn%20cds%20with%20Roxio' http://www.usp.ac.fj/index.php?id=1327 As I said a Cd Burner is actual a physical thing you can touch, and do you have that. If you need more help then let us know and we can try some other method to help you. Also have a look here and try Creator Classic. http://www.roxio.com/en/support/emc8/tutorials.jhtml For every problem, there is a solution. That software is a burning Rom, what this means is that this software will allow you to burn data, copy data from a cd, and other options. This software will not replace anything. Your cd burner is a physical device; this is software which will allow the cd burner to utilize its physical burning device. Windows Media Player burning features depends on the Cd Burning service that we tried top enable, so with this service not working you cannot burn things with Windows Media Player, does that mean you cannot burn music? No, Roxio is separate software that can do that for you. Photoshop is a picture editing program, I am not aware that this software can burn pictures. Rioxo can also burn pictures. ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. Ultimately I think you will need to repair the OS, but you can go here http://www.download.com/Nero-7-Ultra-Edition/3000-2646_4-10532369.html?tag=lst-0-1 this will download Nero if you have a dial up connection then this download will take many hours. This looks like it is a better deal as this program has no limitations, where as Nero is limited to 30 days. http://www.download.com/Roxio-Easy-Media-Creator/3000-2646_4-10409252.html?tag=lst-0-1 ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. Alright well you could buy or download a burning ROM so you can burn cd’s. But for this service to be missing is strange. This may or may not help but do you have any Spyware scanners on your system such as Adaware and Spybot and Microsoft Defender? Also do you have your Windows XP CD? We may need to perform a repair install, which should get that service back. ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. Okay the questions I was referring to was this “I have been able to get into some windows that ask that question before I do anything.” But I have the information I need, so let’s go ahead and make sure that the burning service is not disabled and running. Go to start-control panel-administrative tools-services press the letter I and then look for IMAPI Cd Burning Service, once found, double click it for startup type make sure it is set to automatic, for service status set to started, then hit apply and ok, then try and burn your data. Let us know if this works. ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. No password is needed to get into Windows. Under the account user it says Computer Administrator. What do you mean about the questions? When I open my Windows Media Player and go under the Burn tab it reads " No CD or DVD burner has been detected. Press F5 to refresh the player". When I do a small window pops up and reads "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it and it displays a button for web help and when I pressed it it told to check for IMAPI CD Burning Service in one of my files. When I did I didn't find any IMAPI. If this is really what is needed is there any way of obtaining it? IP: Logged |

Do you enter a password upon windows startup? And what questions do you get? Go to start-control panel then user accounts do you see your name listed and if so what does it say by it, user, guest power user, debug user, administrator, something else? ------------------ For every problem, there is a solution. About a month ago I was going to burn a cd like I always did but this time I got a messege that my cd/dvd burner was disabled. I don't remember doing anything to cause this, so I went to the troubleshoot thing for help and no luck. I started to do other things that were supposed to help and again no luck.
