Can you play a file in Windows Media Player? When you try to do a system restore what error message do you get? Also click the button near the clock the arrow, then click the speaker icon, is anything muted or the volume to low?

Do you know what you deleted, and do you know what type of sound card you have? I don't know if this would work but you could try a system restore. Let us know if you need any help
