Greg, thanks for the concern, I was not hit that hard we are about 60 miles from NO, and 70 miles from where Rita hit. It is just the process of helping the ones who were hit. When do you get that stop error message and what is the complete message?

Ok, well my computer has been behaving very very odd lately.

All of a sudden its been restarting / giving me error messages - I've done a full virus scan + spyware scan wit ha couple of different identites - which brought up some suspicious apps that were totally unrelated to this problem.

According to the event log and some forums, the problem is with one of windows' features - the driver verifier. It seems that its restarting my computer every time it suspects something wrong? but no specific error messages are given (I even have automatic restarts turned off in my settings!).

The error log events given are:

EVENT ID 1-10 (yes 1,2,3...10) etc one after another)
Source: SIMPTCP

All giving a similar message like, "The simple Tcpip service could not find hte UDP port for QOTD".

This happens everytime i start my computer or turn my modem on.

ANd yes, it has JUST started happening. I havent added anything (or removed for that matter) lately, *because i have no money to do so :P*

so I'm really stumped as to whats causing it.

Any help would be greatful,

Greg.

BTW: On some of the blue screens it referred to the MS driver verifier, and also some wording with ***STOP in it.

On an unrelated subject: Josh1 hope you werent affected by the recent hurricanes :S
