I was able to translate it using Google using the French filter so if it is not it's awfully close.

This is the line for "Last Know Good Configuration"

Derniere bonne configuration connue <vos derniers parametres fonctionnels>

If this does not work then a repair installation would be your only hope but you will need the XP CD's for that.

Well I had all of the wording professionally translated, I was informed that this unfortunately is not French, so from this point I am unable to tell what language this is. With this kind of barrier I am not going to be able too properly assist you for this option. However we can walk you through the steps of formatting the machine, if those recovery discs are the English version then we can work with that. Or if someone that can make some sense of this wording, that would help or you could contact dell and maybe they could assist you. With that said do you want to format and start over?

Alright, right now I am trying to get things sorted out with the language barrier, so that I can know for sure what selections you need to go too. But try this, turn the computer on, and then press the F8 key until you get to a menu, now from that menu write down everything it says.

Are you certain that all the selections will end up to a blue screen?

Nope no new hardware or anything has been added when i first got it i could get to the windows login screen but now it wont get that far not sure y cuz i didnt change a single thing since i got it. When i try the selections some of them start loading stuff i think but they all end up at a blue screen not sure if its the exact same as the one i sent u but they all look similar but since they only stay for like 2 seconds i cant really check for a difference.

I got your picture and it is all in French, but I was able to determine that it is a STOP error, have you added any new hardware or software to this machine? When you tired all the selections what exactly happened did anything attempt to, did a blue screen come up, if so what did it say did the computer turn off? I will have to make sure that this is French Because when I try to translate that wording from French to English it does not make any sense, and because you do not see any of the things we have suggested you to do also.

Lets see if we can get to the command line so at the menu look for this l'ordre incite seulement and press enter, email me the picture that you posted here at web_95@hotmail.com if you can get to a command line then you should see some wording and a line (_) that flashes

The error points to a problem with the registry, try pressing f8 and then look for a line with "Bon Connu Par Bout" or something to that effect in it and try using that to fix it.

It is the "Last known good configuration" selection, it may restore the system to the last place is successfully booted.

K first off the 3 cds i have are Application, (for reinstalling roxio easy cd creator 5.3.4 SP8 basic system software) Drivers and utilities (for reinstalling dell latitude system software) and windvd if u know if i could use any of them to reformat lemme know. I tried that F8 thing but it brings up more french options about 12 of them and i tried each of them and they all ended up givin me the same result which was going to that blue screen and then restarting. The picture i took is of a way bigger size than the forum shows if u want me to send u the pic to ur e-mail or sumtin just lemme know where to send it and i will. Right now i wanna try to fix it without havin to reformat but if i have to i will.

I am unable to tell what the error message says due to the picture size. It depends on what you want to do we can help you reformat it, provided you have the right disk, or we can fix it without having to reformat and start over. Whichever you would like to do we will help you. You mentioned something about the registry so lets try this, when the computer boots up, press the F8 key and you should get to a menu, look for last know good configuration, press enter on that does Windows load?

Hi the blue screen that comes up only stays their for like a second and i cant really read it. Its all in french as well. The setup menu (when its loading up i hit f2 to open it) is all in english. I was thinkin about tryin to reformat it but i'm not sure if i have all the correct disks i have 3 that my sisters boyfriend gave me and 1 of them i can use to boot up. The only thing that i can remember seeing on the blue screen is Registry_error. I can't get into windows at all before i even get close to it i always get the blue screen and well then it restarts i have a pic of the blue screen i took with my digital camera. If the image comes up to small i can also send it to you.

I cannot speak French but it sounds like to me that is the advanced boot menu. If this wording is in French then most likely the OS is a French version not English. When we get the system working, all the wording may possibly be in French, if you can decpi9her French then that is fine but if you can then you might have a hard time working with this system. If you want to continue to use this version then we can fix it, or you need to buy an English version of Windows XP, or you might want to contact Dell and ask for the English version of there restore disk. When you said this “its pretty much all in French besides the start up menu” Does that mean you can get into windows? The blue screen you get, tell us what it says including any numbers.

Hi i just got this latitude D600 laptop from my sisters boyfriend. He was fooling around with it and now it doesnt even boot to the login screen and its pretty much all in french besides the start up menu. When i boot it up it goes to this menu with like 5 options their all in french so i'm not sure what they say but i'm pretty sure its askin what kind of start up mode or sumtin they say:
Mode sans echec
Mode sans echec avec prise en charge reseau
Invite de commandes en mode sans echec
Derniere bonne configuration connue <vos derniers parametres fonctionnels>
Demarrer Windows Normalement

I've tried selecting them each atleast once and they all end up at this blue screen with alot of french writing and it stays up for like 2-3 secs then it restarts the whole thing. If any 1 has any idea on how to fix this or if u need more information just lemme know and i'll try and get it for u but ur gonna have to tell me where to look cuz i'm not that good with computers. If u need to reach me outside the board e-mail me or add me to msn at CoolGuy00130013@hotmail.com
