One of my friends at work took the disk to a man that works at her high school, in the computer department that she knows real well. she said she had a bad disk once with a paper on it and he fixed it for her. I just got back from giving the disk to her to give to him. I hope he can fix it for me, and thank you very much for your help.

I have found this http://www.handyarchive.com/Utilities/Miscellaneous/12298-Flobo-Floppy-Bad-Sector -Repair.html I have never used it, but it says it fixes bad sectors by deleting them. Now this is good, but what if your data is in a bad sector and the program delete the sector therefore deleting your data. So I would be somewhat cautious about using this, let me see if I can find another one for you. This looks better http://www.data-recovery-software.net/Data_Recovery_Download.shtml#demo
Download R stuido demo, if your data is over 64kilobytes in size then you will not be able to recover the data unless you buy the program. You may need help to know what to do with the program go here for help on how to use it http://www.data-recovery-software.net/downloads/Recovery_Manual.pdf
If you have any problems or do not understand anything then let us know.

It sounds like chkdsk cannot read the disk info, which is why chkdsk never works or stalls. Are you able to complete the scan without checking any boxes? To be honest with you floppies will sometimes fail for no apparent reason, they are not very reliable, and I know that does not help you, because you want your important data off it. Let me see if I can look around the Internet for you, so that you can download a disk utility that will fix the floppy for you. But if the disk is physically damaged or corrupted then it may prove difficult to get the data off. The again if you bring it in to a shop, they would most likely do the same thing, or they might even tell you the same thing. Let me see if I can find a program that can help you.

No problem, the my computer icon that is on your desktop, double click it, and it should open. Your should see a icon of the floppy drive A: make sure that the floppy disk that does not work is in the drive. Once that is the drive, right click the floppy drive icon, a menu should open up, from that menu choose properties, another window will open up. Then look for the Tools tab, once found, click it, then look for error checking, then it the check now button, a box should come up, check the box that says scan for an attempt recovery of bad sectors. Now the process should start, what this does is scan the disk for any errors, and fix them, if it can. Now the scan should tell you if it was able to complete the scan or it will tell you it could not complete, and then tell you why it could not. If the scan completes try to get your information off the disk, if you have any more problems or need more explanation then let us know.

Try chkdsk at Mark suggested in a differnt post. Let us know if that works or not.

Right click "My Computer" > left click "Properties" > right click on the "A:" drive > left click "Properties" > left click "Tools" > left click the "Check Now" button > left click both boxes to select them > and finally left click on "Start"

If the disk can be fixed you will get a message "Disk Check Complete"

I have saved some information on a 3 1/2 floppy. I have opened this information before and have been saving on the disk for a month or so. Recently I tried to access this information and I got an error saying my disk wasn't formatted or formatted for macintosh (which it's not). I know that if I format the disk then I will lose all my information. I do not want to lose it. Please tell me there is a way to get my information back!!
