Thank you for the suggestions. I am up an running. To resolve this, the following was performed:
1) All PCs on network shutdown
2) Router shutdown
3) Cable modem shutdown
4) Router started up
5) Performed hard reset on Linksys router
6) Cable modem started
7) PCs started

It is still a mystery to me why this only happened with the one PC, but I am very happy to have it fixed!

Yes - I used a router port that was in use by another machine and rebooted the Dell. This did not solve the problem.

Thanks for starting a new topic, have you tried this, what was suggested by Mark in another topic? " Did you try plugging this system into the router port that one of the working systems is using?"

My Dell Dimension 4550 stopped recognizing my network. The PC is 3 years old, runs Windows XP Pro, and has an Intel Pro/100 VE NIC.

The network is a Linksys Cable Modem with a Linksys Cable/DSL Router. The network has been up and running fine for the last 1.5 years.

Both lights are on on the back of the NIC, the connection recognizes when the cable is connected/disconnected. The IP assigned to the NIC is in the 169.254 block.

The NIC can be pinged on 127.0.0.1 and on the assigned IP, but can not ping my router or any other computer on the network.

I have plugged the cable into a router recepticle that I know is working.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
