Okay when does Windows shut down, any error messages, when windows boots up, does it say Windows has recovered from a critical error? I have got the Speed Touch website, but I need to know the model number of the modem, to provide you with the proper drivers. Concerning the unexpected shutdown of Windows, try this go to start-control panel, administrative tools-event viewer-system log, and then look for the date and time at which the shutdown occurred. Once found, double click the event and a window will come up, then you will see an up and down arrow button under the down arrow button, you will see a note pad click that. In the area where you would reply right click with your mouse and go to paste, and the event will show up in your reply, so we can find out what windows is shutting down.

Do you get the same error message, or a different one, does the same thing happen as t did before? The last error message you gave us was that is could not load the driver. Did you install any software that came with your modem? And what is the exact make and model of your modem?

What is the error message you are getting when you try to use the Internet connection? How do you connect to the Internet, dial up, or broadband? Try this, go to a command prompt then at the prompt type ipconfig/release then press enter, then type ipconfig/renew does that help? You also might want to make sure that your firewall is not blocking any internet traffic.

hi guys i have a problem which i have no clue how to fix.

just out of the blue today when i turned my comp on my PC is not working corectly. my internet connects to the net and the icon says its conected. but nothing that requires an internet conection is working.

i know the net is working as ive pinged a internet server through cmd.exe

but when i tryed to ping myself (127.0.0.1) it says its not recognized.

my friend who knows alot about computers said that "ok your internet conection is 100% ok. For some reason your windows is not viewing the IP address. and this is where it gets real complicated and hard to fix"

so i wandered if any of you knows what he is talking about and how do i fix this.

i dont know how it has got like this as i havent installed any new software or hardware and i havent tampered with any settings.

plz help

Russell
