That is a lot of money; I think they should have at least provided the restore disk for free, and that it should have been given to you when you got the machine. And those tech support calls or trips to the shop can be expensive. Although in the USA, most shops usually help you for free, if you call them. How long was the original warranty, one year or 90 days, 30 days?

My friend contacted the vendor TINY.com and a sales person convinced her to take out a 3 year extended warranty at a cost of £225.00, then she was told she had to pay a further £40.00 for a CD-ROM disk to reinstall what ever her PC needed to get it working? To add salt to the wound the telephone call cost £25.00.

No problem just let us know when you have looked at it and if you have problems. The boot disk for Home will be in that link I provided.

I don't think so. For some reason the company 'TINY' did not send it, which seems strange?

Will she need it?

This is what is shown on the screen:-

WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT.
(Windows root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe)
PLEASE RE-INSTALL A COPY OF THE ABOVE FILE.

She does not have a file to re-install. What can be done please?

Regards Maverick

Hey its no problem, your welcome for the reply. Yes that would help, the error messages, and should we need to reinstall Windows, the CD-ROM of windows XP will help us, as that is what we shall use for the installation.

Is tiny a company or a person? What happens when you turn it on, any error messages? If so then could you please tell us the messages? I do not know what you mean by this “Can this be done without a disk?”

A friend bought her system from 'Tiny'. It no longer runs and when switched on shows that the system requires a reset.

Can this be done without a disk? Advice please?
