No problem, on your computer you have a USB port, either on the front or back, on the new computer it may be on the front, on older computers it will be on the back. Now on the USB floppy device, you have the floppy drive, and then the USB cable that is on the back of the drive. All you need to do is plug the cable into a USB port on your computer, and you are good to go, no installing the drive in the computer. Now for Windows 98, and Me you will most likely need to install drivers, and those drivers should come with the floppy drive. For Windows XP, and 2000, and above you should not need to install any drivers. ------------------

Hi, OK, I can buy the floppy drive and use the cable . Do these external things come with a free standing frame or cover of some type? I know nothing about how they look and I don`t see anyplace to physically attach it to the computer. (This may sound dumb, but really I don`t know, how this thing would operate .)I understand about the cable, just not the external drive itself. Many thanks ! IP: Logged |

You can buy a USB floppy disk, you simply plug in the USB cable on the floppy drive, windows should detect it, and then you can use the USB drive as a normal floppy drive. A floppy USB drive should cost under 35$ or less. ------------------

Hi, My 7 year old computer died.I had to buy a new computer, with Windows XP.It does not have a floppy drive. I have a SONY digital camera that uses floppies to make/store images, so they are not stored in the computer at all, they just stay on the floppies. Is there some way I can adapt my new Compaq computer, where it can accomodate my floppy disks, as I have 1,000 photos on floppies? I do not want them stored on my new computer`s hard drive, but on a removeable CD or DVD would be OK, if that is possible. I have CD and DVD drives, also, have a CD burner on the new computer. I have a new USB 2.0 cable for peripherals, too, if that would be of any help to do anything??? Is what I want impossible? OR Would it be best to have my old computer with Windows 98 repaired, so I could still use that old floppy drive? I don`t know what I need, I do know what I want. Thanks for any help you can give on this . Most Sincerely, Capriceus IP: Logged |
