If you go to device manager then go to standard game port, open that up then go to resources, you do not have the option of unchecking use automatic settings? Can you enable the device? Also did you look in the BIOS to see if you can change the address of the game port?

Hey i havent replied to this topic in quite a while - only until now when i need it the most lol.

Well i've just done a fresh install of xp and the resource range 0201-0201 seems to be still "disabled" for some reason.

There are no conflicts in the device manager and no duplicate devices. I have a CMI-8738 audio card and my main use for the game port would be for a MIDI connection.

I've just tried it in my old computer, and it all works fine. This computer seems to have a silent device using that range or isnt putting out enough power to use that range - i'm not sure

IF you could be of any help,
Greg

Greg,
That is the way to change the resource settings in windows, if you know what device is conflicting, and then maybe you can look in the BIOS and change it to another setting. What type of joystick do you have, what is the whole name and model number?

Josh,

The only way i know how to change the range is through device manager>game port>properties>resources tab. but the thing is, the option to automatically configure or manually change the range has been disabled for some reason :O! please tell me if you know any other way to change the range. It very well could be a problem with my mother board. i read that jetway mobo + c-media = don't mix.

thx anyway, greg.

Do you know how to change the range? You will need to change the resource settings for your joystick, change it to a setting that has no conflicts. If you cannot change the settings or if you have already done that then let us, know. It could be a problem with your motherboard and C-Media.

My c-media game port doesn't work O.O!

I looked at the properties and it gives the message "Windows cannot find enough free resources for this device. You will have to disable another device to enable this one." I looked at the resources and the resource range is 0201 - 0201 - which is normal, and i also looked at the device manager by resource range, and found there were no duplicates. i have no onboard game ports so i don't think that could be the problem O.O. My motherboard is a jetway nap2a ultra or something - i read that there are alot of problems with jetway mobos and c-media devices.

Lastly, i ran debug in cmd prompt, and when i ran -i 201 , it came up with the letters FF. I also read somewhere that FF means the joystick is not working, but the joystick works fine on my other computer.

sometimes you just HAVE to kick your computer ^.o.

Thanks if you can help,

Greg.
