It could be, what you could try is put one folder one at a time until it starts to slow down, and then you should be able to see what folder is slowing that down.

I just exported/saved all my favorites to a zip drive and then erased all my saved favorites in the favorites folder.

Everything is working quickly now. I'm going to leave it like this for a few days and then import my favorites back and see if it slows down again.

Could there be something wrong with one of the favorites that causes it to hang?

There may be to many folders or to many favorites to display, when it adds it. Try this, go to add remove programs then look for Internet Explorer and then click on remove, and then a dialog box should come up asking if you want to fix uninstall or reinstall, click on fix. Try that and see what happens.

If I use Ctrl D like you suggested there is absolutely no delay?

I tried to repair IE6 at the remove software section but it doesn't give me that option.

Should I try to repair now that I know it is instantaneous with the shortcut keys or does that mean that its not a IE problem? How do I repair?

I had that problem before but it was due to Norton Antivirus software. Let us know if the fix, fixes your problem.

Have you heard about this problem from anyone else?

I'm down to a consistant 5 second delay to add a favorite. How long does it take you?

I have not had the time to repair IE but will in the near future to see if it shortens this time.

Just on a lighter side of things....everyone needs a laugh from time to time...Josh1 just gave me one with this post he made

It is when you have unused favorites this will hide them from view. Do you see some of your favorites hidden from view?

That reminded me of this joke...I went into a store looking for some camoflogue clothing but could not find any....haha.
Sorry this does not fix anything but I just had to..

Josh,

It has sped up by itself. I ran all three spyware programs. NOthing really new found.

I'll just leave it alone for now and see if it slows down again.

Can you rebuild IE 6.0 without uninstalling it?

Try this go into your favorites folder and copy some of your folders and place them in another part of your hard drive other then your favorites. You should notice that the ones you moved, not in your favorites anymore. Now lets see if you still have the slow down. If you still do then you may have to fix or reinstall IE.

No favorites are hidden from view. However, there are organized into about 75 folders.
Could I just have too many?

I don't know what personalized favorites are?

The BC wipe is OK. Its a program for wiping your free space and deleting files.

I updated spybot and ran it and it didn't find anything.

I don't know what this is

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BCWipeTM Startup] "C:\Program Files\Jetico\BCWipe\BCWipeTM.exe" startup do you know what that is are you do use it?
And when you ran Spybot, did you check for updates? If not then do that and then rerun the scan and let us know what it finds if anything. As far as anything else it looks okay to me, do you have personalized favorites enabled? We may need to fix IE.

I thought it was solved and maybee it is but I have to wait 13 seconds with the hourglass each time I save a favorites to a favorites folder. Is this normal. I was waiting much longer before my last post with the same problem. I thought it was fixed. If I remember right, after we removed several of those tracking items it was near instantaneous. Is there still something wrong with the hourglass waiting for 13 seconds. I have a very fast computer with a fresh windows xp pro installation. I ran Spybot again and it didn't find anything new.
