If the original copy of Windows is not working and it is defective then the only you would have to get another copy. Their prices are high for repair and support over the phone. Here is the info on the virus you have and how to get rid of it http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/downloader.mscache.html Your welcome for the help[ and if you have any other questions,. then please ask.

What brand of computer do you have? Maybe you can exchange for a new set.

I am trying to use the original and it won't read, something is wrong with the first disc so i tried to make a copy to see if maybe a copy of it would work.I am sorry I am not being clear on this but I am trying to just reformat with the disks I have and they are the ones that originally came with the software but for some reason my pc won't read the first disk.

If you have the original then just use that one instead. The image of the other disc is no good.

I have the original disk and last night i got the bright idea to copy the disk and this is how I know the disc is no good my cd burner kept telling me to put a disk in it didn't read this particular disk. So the software is bad now but there are neo scratches or fingerprints.

Sounds like an ISO somebody made, I take it this is not an original CD or a copy of an original.

Try to disable the 3.5 drive in the BIOS and see if that helps. What is the exact error message you get, and when does it happen?

If you have the Windows XP cd-rom, then go into your BIOS then go into the BIOS features setup, change the boot order so that your cd-rom will boot first, then exit and save changes. Put your Windows XP cd in the drive, then the system will boot off the cd then setup will load files, and then setup will ask you if you would like to format this partition, hit yes and xp will then format your drive. Then the computer will reboot, let the computer boot off the cd, it will start setup again then you will want to tell setup where you want to install XP. Select your choice, then xp will load files, then the system will reboot, now make sure after this reboot you go into the BIOS and let the Hard drive boot first exit and save changes. Then windows setup will begin, that will take around 30-40 minutes to install XP depending on your configuration. If you don't know how to get into the BIOS then let us know or if you have any other problems.
