Did you download, Service pack one via the Internet? Or did the PC already have service pack 1 on it already? If that is the case then please let me know. Also check for spyware here http://download.com.com/3000-2144-10186632.html?tag=lst-0-1

SP1 and SP2 are installed in my computer.Perhaps I think at first I used Sp1 and later I downloaded Sp2 with Office Update.

I always install the latest updates available for my computer's operating system,software,hardware consisting of not only Critical Updates and Service Packs but also WindowsXP and Driver Updates.I feel that the start-up of Windows and the softwares of Microsoft office may have been slow after I have installed the security program by Windows Update.Can the start-up have been slow by Windows Updates?
