I figured it out, it looks like the IDE slot might be bad. I connected the drive and the HDD on the same IDE cable and everything works fine now.

I just put a new mobo in a pc, and I am going to be installing xp on it. Currently, it has win98se. I can eject the cdrom from the rightclick menu, lights come on the drive, I put the cd in the drive, the icon in My Computer shows "cd" on the drive. I can double click and open the drive, but it shows o files.

I've tried several cd's, all the same. What can I do? The BIOS is set to read cd first, and does not ask to boot. I've tested the cd in another pc, and it does ask to press any key.

I have also switched out the cdrom, with another cdrom. Same issue.

What can anyone suggest?
