Some things I can think of, try another power cable, the cable may be bad or coming loose. If you do not have another power cord then you should be able to swap the computer power cord and monitor power cord for one another. Do you have an extension cable in addition to the video cable that plugs on the back of the computer, if so then take that off and only use the original cable. Also let’s try this go to start-control panel-display then settings-advanced-monitor, make sure the check mark that says hide modes this monitor cannot display, and after you do that set the rate to 60Hertz then hit apply and okay and see if that helps. You also could try 70 or 72

Hi Josh,

I'm always in Windows 98. Right now the monitor is staying on, and has been for about 10 minutes, which is long for the past few days. Friday it stayed on for an entire day. But after that it would turn off every few seconds to minutes, until now, but I'm juast waiting for it to turn off again. I spoke to a computer repair shop, and he said my system is old. I bought this in 2001. I hardly think that is the problem. I bought this monitor used about a year or so ago. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

It could be going out, are you in windows when this happens? What we could try this go into safe mode to see if the monitor shuts off, but when does the monitor shut off before you are in windows or when you are in windows?
