Well, I don't know. But I just stole one of the downstairs printers. Thanks for trying to help though!

I am not aware of any files in XP that will run a printer on 98.

You need to add the printer in 98 and if the drivers are not available you need to get them from the printer maker, you may also need the Win98 CD.

The printer could also be bad, how old is it? What model?

Sent you what file? Install it where? What is it supposed to do?

It's a file that's suppose to share the printers and such, so if I'm on the upstairs computer, I can print downstairs and such. Install it where? I don't know? On the computer...ha.

But see, I've changed the cartridge and that didn't do anything...

If you are tryihg to install XP drivers on a 98 machine you are going to have problems.

Ok so I've been here a lot, just not recently. I'm having a problem with our printer. It keeps saying "a BJ cartridge error occurred. Install the BJ cartridge properly and close t he printer's front cover'...but everything is installed correctly. I've asked everyone and they say it is. What can I do?

Also, while I'm at it, I might as well ask this question too. We're trying to hook up our printers to a network, so we can print from one computer to a printer somewhere else right? So my brother sent me the file, and I go to install it and I get this error:
Error 1706. Setup cannot find the required files. Check your connection to the network, or CD ROM drive. For other potential solutions to this problem, see C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office10/1033/STEUP.HLP.

What in the heck does that mean? I think maybe it's because we have XP downstairs and 98 up here? But I have no idea. Thanks.
