Just delete each file that it says it can't manually and it is gone [This message has been edited by Raider1 (edited December 21, 2005).] IP: Logged |

Do you by nay chance have Norton System works, or any kind of system program like that? If so they may have a uninstall program that should get rid of the file, I tried to look for some kind of program you could download to delete Real, but could not find any free ones. But lets try this, if you have uninstalled or deleted any files associated with Real Player, then you may need to reinstall them first, then go here http://real.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/real.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4723 Try what is said in the link, if that does not work then look for this file c:\windows\system\ra32a4_4.dll, if found then delete it just as you tried with the other file. So it froze while trying to uninstall? If neither of these things work, then let us know. Make sure when you search for files, you type them as they are, such as decdnet.dll ------------------

Well Josh, could't find anything related to real. The other night I ran files and folders decd.dll and I found two files which when I opened said they were read me files. I then went back to add/remove and tried an uninstall and got this Could not delete c:\windows\system\ra32a4_4.dll. Behind the above was a screen that had at the bottom a blue line with 36 % in the balance of the white area which to me appears to be hanging. IP: Logged |

I suppose that the file is still in use even in safe mode. What we could do is manually delete the file c:windows\system\decdnet.dl, but before you delete this, but make sure when you delete this, that is goes in the recycle bin. I think but UI am not sure, is if we delete this file, and then you go to delete real player then you might get an error message that it could not complete the operation due to the missing file. If you delete the file and put it in the Recycle bin, then you can simply restore the file and we can try something else. To delete the file we first must browse to the file, open up my computer, then double click your C: icon, then look for the folder Windows, once found double click it, and answer yes to view the files. Now look for the System folder, open it up, again hit yes to view the files, then look for decdnet.dll, once found highlight it, press delete, make sure you answer yes to delete the file to the recycle bin. After that, try to uninstall Real Player. If that does not work then let us know, or if you get an error message that the file is in use then let us know. You should not need to delete other programs such as Nero, because that is not related to Real Player. If you just delete the exe file of Real player, that will delete the file, but not the entire program, other dll files and registry entries will remain. ------------------

Hello Josh, I have tried both things you have suggested, nothing worked. I wonder I have a sony cd-rw writer installed and with it came s cd for nero 6(smartstart. That is still there. I have deleted every media device that I can think of except that. Yet I had d/l some free songs that are still on board and they play that tells me there is some audio device still lurking. I to find realplayer.exe uninstall and that did not bring anything to the front If you can think of anything else would appreciate you thoughts. Java IP: Logged |

You could press Ctrl-Alt-Delete at the same time and close every program expect Explorer. Or you could do this, restart the computer, when windows exits, and you see a black screen, press the F8 key until you get to a menu. Then from that menu, go to safe mode, once in windows things will be a little bit different, this is normal. Now go back to add remove programs and try to uninstall Real Player. Then reboot windows and start normally ------------------

Hello, sometime back I had the subject and well as real radio, it was giving me some problems so I uninstalled so I thought. For sometime now, real player 4 is in my add/remove and when I try to remove it I get this: "Could not delete file c:windows\system\decdnet.dll - this file is being used by another application. Clost all applications that use this file and try unstall again" Needless to say this has not worked. I have as far as I know Uninstalled every media device I had on, except for nero smartstart which was included in with my new cd=rw writer. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciated it. Thanks in advance IP: Logged |
