More Hard drive space will not make your computer any faster. The only way your computer would slowdown due to hard drive usage would be if your hard drive is lower then 100 Megabytes of space or your hard drive needs to be defragmentated. Chance are your machine could be infected with Spyware, and or viruses. Do you have Adaware, Spybot installed on the machine? What Operating system do you have?

I have a lap top computer which is getting slower and slower. I keep very little actually on the hard drive - using CD's instead. If I buy one of these external USB drives (40-60GB) will that help my computer speed?
